Heya Go Farians!
Got shoes you’re looking to dump or shoes you wore once and forgot about ’cause they didn’t fit right? Don’t let them go to waste! Save ’em ’cause we’re gearing up to start our Annual Donation Drive!
Last year we ran our inaugural donation drive in the Spring with One World Running and were able to collect over 200 pairs of shoes. We bested our initial drive several months later with a Winter drive collecting over 325 pairs of shoes for California Runners. Taking a break earlier this year, we’re hoping to best that number this Winter!
This year we’ll be sending all our donations to Mission Atletica, a non-profit organization helping bring the joy of running and changing lives in Guatemala one pair of running shoes at a time.
Start saving up your new and used running shoes, as well as lightly worn running apparel and running gear such as water bottles and fuel belts. We can take shoes in all conditions – any that are too worn to be reused will be sent to Nike’s Reuse a Shoe program to be recycled and turned into track, turf, and playgrounds.
We’ll start collecting donations at our scheduled runs November 1st and will continue until mid December wrapping up with a closing event!
Interested in helping out with our donation drive? This year we’ll be collecting shoes at several races around the Bay Area including Brazen’s Mt Diablo and Summit Rock runs, as well as the Berkeley Half Marathon and Silicon Valley Turkey Trot. If you’d like to volunteer some of your time to help us out, please fill out the form below and we’ll get back to you with more information as things get underway.
