Hello Go Farians!
Happy December! Here it is, the end of the year already. Can you believe 2015 is almost over? With the end of the year approaching, I want to take some time to thank you all sincerely for being a part of Go Far. This group has grown into an amazing community of runners who I see supporting one another, participating in races together, and coming together every week at various Meetups to run and create lasting friendships. I am so thankful to be a part of such an amazing running community. I want to give a big shout out to everyone who accomplished a goal, ran a race, hit a certain time, or improved their fitness this year. Your success encourages us all throughout the year as we hear stories of weight loss journeys, PRs, and mileage totals. I would love for each of you to email me back with your favorite running story or a goal you worked hard for and achieved in 2015. Thank you in advance, I really want to collect these stories from our group.
This month is bringing to a close our amazing shoe drive. If you see Stanton Chan, give him a high five and a thank you for putting together this incredible effort. Through his efforts and your volunteer hours at multiple races we have collected 616 pairs of shoes, 262 tops, and 71 bottoms to donate to Mission Atletica. And we aren’t done yet! We will have our final volunteering push at Summit Rock this Saturday, and we will continue collecting donations through the end of this week. The FINAL day to bring your shoe or apparel donations will be this SUNDAY December 13. Please bring all your shoes to one of the Meetups this week, we will not be able to collect any items past that date. I would LOVE to hit 700 pairs of shoes. Let’s make it happen!
Some Meetups of note this month include our holiday dinner next Thursday, December 17 at the Old Spaghetti Factory. It is going to be a ton of fun, and I can’t wait to celebrate 2015 with you next week. We will also be having our Frickin’ Festive 3x5K Relay Race this Sunday. We will group up in teams of 3 and running a 5K to celebrate the holidays. We will have some small give aways, so please RSVP by Friday so that we will have enough for everyone. RSVP here: http://www.meetup.com/
Moving into January we are going to have a new, fun competition to try and get everyone active in the cold months of winter time. Keep an eye out for the details in our January newsletter!
That is it for this newsletter! Thank you Go Farians for being a part of Go Far and a special thanks to those of you who have volunteered in any way for Go Far this year. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and that you spend it with friends and family. Don’t forget to send me your 2015 story of a goal reached or a favorite running memory! Thanks, and GO FAR!
